I am going to take a break from my series about choosing songs this month to talk about the launch of our new worship night graphics! September 26th was our first worship night after the summer about the faithfulness of God. The worship nights this past year have been so amazing and inspirational to me. Hearing the testimonies of people from our flock and joining in together as the body of Christ to praise the Creator of the universe is such a beautiful and necessary part of our walk with Jesus!
After seeing how powerful the nights of worship were at Koinonia, I wanted to create something that embodied how we should respond when we worship our Savior. I came up with a few themes, but Awaken really stuck with me. I was thinking about the lyrics from one of my favorite songs Here as in Heaven which say, “Spirit of God fall fresh on us, we need Your presence.” I believe we need a fresh outpouring of the Spirit in the body of Christ. Sometimes after we have been saved for many years, we can let our faith become stagnant and we start to lose our passion.
I want to see these worship nights as an awakening of the Spirit fresh in our hearts and our lives. When we are filled to the top with zeal for the Lord, our cup runs over and spreads into other’s lives around us. Ephesians 5:11-14 says, “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says: ‘Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.’” We are called to wake up, rise up, and serve the Lord.
Without the light inside of us, we cannot share with those around us in darkness. We cannot help people out of the darkness if we ourselves are asleep in our faith. We all go through times that we feel downcast or motionless in our faith, but we cannot allow ourselves to stay there! We need to worship our Savior with fierce passion and awaken our hearts! My vision is that these worship nights would just be the beginning of the awakening of our faith. I want to see renewal and revival in the local church and around the globe. The place this starts is in genuine worship and adoration of our Lord Jesus Christ! Through our faith, let us be the light this world so desperately needs.
