Bringing Good News to our Senior Population

In Mark’s gospel {Mark 16:15} Jesus exhorts his disciples to: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Those of us who heard the call of the LORD on our hearts to go and bring the good news of hope, forgiveness and salvation to the residents in nursing homes, assisted living, and rehabilitation centers truly count it all joy to be able to minister God’s love to our senior population!

In the past we had the wonderful opportunity to be actively involved in eight different locations within the City of Rochester and Monroe County’s east side. The Lord had raised up a team of volunteers gifted in the following areas of ministry:

  • Personal friendship and encouragement
  • Worshiping and praising the Lord together
  • Praying with residents
  • Teaching the Word of God

Jesus said in John 13:34,35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

The Koinonia Nursing Home outreach counts it a great privilege to minister to those seniors who so often are unable to attend their home church. Due to the 2020 pandemic, however, we have been unable to minister to these precious seniors for far too long, but we look forward to being able to return to ministering in area Nursing Homes soon.
