Heart for the Next Generation
If you’ve spent any time serving in the children’s ministry or dropped off your little ones at Koinonia Fellowship, you have already met Lynna. Her joyful smile, radiant curly hair, and the way she lights up when she’s surrounded by people are hard to miss. Today, we are excited to officially introduce her as our new Children’s Ministry Director. She is stepping into this role with grace, enthusiasm, and a deep love for Jesus and His little ones.
I first met Lynna when I had my first son. At the time, she was serving as the ministry coordinator and handed me a Baby Blessing basket that meant far more than she probably realized. It wasn’t just a gift. It was a welcome, a connection, and the beginning of something meaningful. Over time, our friendship has grown. Our kids play together in the nursery. Shortly after my second son was born, I realized I spent quite a bit of time in the nursery anyway, so I joined the volunteer team and had the chance to see even more of Lynna’s heart in action.
She is a woman of creativity, deep compassion, and faithful service. She always seems to be smiling, not because it is expected, but because her joy is genuine. It flows naturally from her relationship with the Lord. She is bubbly, encouraging, and warm, yet also remarkably steady and dependable. When Lynna commits to something, she brings her whole heart to it.
Not long ago, our families started a small book study together. Lynna and her husband David, my family, and another couple from the church met every other Sunday or so to talk about what we were learning, to share life, and to encourage one another in parenting and faith. It was simple, but impactful. Those gatherings reminded me that raising children to know Jesus is never meant to be a solo journey. It takes community, prayer, and intentional discipleship, and Lynna understands that deeply.
Carrying a Legacy of Faith
Lynna has served in children’s ministry for over eight years and recently transitioned from her coordinator role to become our new director. She brings not only experience from working at a Christian daycare, but also fresh vision and enthusiasm for what’s ahead. One of her first major projects is this summer’s Vacation Bible School, which will focus on the story of the woman at the well. She is excited to share this beautiful message of God’s love with the children.
One of Lynna’s greatest passions is helping every child feel welcomed, known, and loved. But more than that, she believes strongly in equipping parents to disciple their children at home. Her heart for this work is deeply personal, shaped by her childhood. Lynna came to know the Lord when she was very young. While she doesn’t remember an exact moment of salvation, she has always been aware of the Holy Spirit’s presence in her life. She was raised in a Christian home and attended Koinonia for most of her life. Her father played a significant role in her spiritual development. He mentored her, encouraged her, answered her questions, and helped her grow in her faith.
That legacy left a lasting impression on Lynna. She knows firsthand the lifelong impact a faithful, Christ-centered home can have. Now, as both a mom and a ministry leader, she carries that same intentionality forward. She’s already begun creating resources for parents, the programs are enriched with gospel-centered teaching, and she is supporting volunteers so that our ministry can walk alongside families, not just during Sunday mornings, but throughout the week.
What Makes Lynna So Special
If I had to describe Lynna in just a few words, I would choose steadfast, compassionate, and faithful. She is deeply committed to serving the Lord in whatever way He guides her to do so. She cares for others with tenderness and shows up to serve even when it is challenging or unseen. Lynna does not just do the job. She lives it with her whole heart.
She celebrates with children when they memorize Scripture. She prays for parents who are overwhelmed. She consistently shows up and gives her best with joy and purpose.
And Lynna doesn’t minister from an empty place. Her relationship with God is something she actively nurtures each day. During our interview, an alarm unexpectedly went off on her phone. She smiled and explained that it was a daily reminder to tune in to one of her favorite pastors on the radio. No matter what she’s doing, whether she is folding laundry, caring for her son Evan, or preparing dinner, she takes that moment to tune her heart to truth. Along with prayer, time in the Word, and encouragement from other believers, it’s one of the simple ways she keeps her mind and spirit centered on Christ throughout the day.
This heart of intentional worship and devotion shapes everything she does in ministry. And Lynna’s care doesn’t stop with the kids. She’s here for the new mom navigating Sunday mornings with a diaper bag and a fussy baby. She’s here for the dad, wondering how to help his kids spiritually. She’s here for the family walking into church for the first time, unsure of where to go or what to expect. She hopes that every family feels seen, supported, and welcomed.
A Ministry That’s Growing Along With Our Church
Our church is growing in beautiful ways. We are welcoming new babies, new families, new energy, and new members of our ministry team. This introduction is not just about a new role. It is a celebration of what God is doing in our church family.
If you are a parent, we want you to feel confident when you drop off your child, knowing they are being cared for, taught, and led to Jesus. And if you feel called to serve in children’s ministry, Lynna would love to connect with you. There is a place for you here. Together, we are building something that lasts far beyond a Sunday morning. We are planting seeds that will grow into something eternal.
Please join me in welcoming Lynna into her new role. Pray for her, encourage her, and celebrate what God is doing through her life and leadership. The seeds she is planting today will bless generations to come.
