CompassCare

"Debbie" traveled to CompassCare from out of state for her appointment. She told her nurse she is considering abortion because it is too hard to be pregnant and work full time. At this point, she and the father of the baby have been attempting to keep the pregnancy a secret from their families. However, they feel their mothers are becoming suspicious. The father of the baby came into the room for the ultrasound exam and was shocked to see his twenty-week-old child on the screen. He and Debbie were both dismayed to learn how developed the baby already is. "I might be too far along," Debbie thought aloud. She found the informational brochure on surgical abortion troubling. She does not plan to travel back to CompassCare for another appointment but was agreeable to follow-up contact from her nurse. Please pray for Debbie to become convinced of her child's immeasurable value. Pray she and the father bond with their child and put all thoughts of abortion out of their minds. -------- "Joanne" came to CompassCare wanting to know the gestational age of her baby in order to determine what type of abortion to seek out. "I want to have a baby, but not right now," she told her nurse. She explained she does not feel prepared to parent a child, but said she knows her friends and family would support her if she chose to do so. When Joanne heard her seven-week-old baby's beating heart during the ultrasound exam, she was surprised. She commented that her baby is more developed than she expected. When asked towards the end of the appointment what she plans to do, Joanne told her nurse, "I'm ok with having the abortion." She agreed to return next week for test results and a follow-up appointment. Pray God moves in Joanne's life in these next few days. Her nurse writes, "Please pray Joanne will remember what her baby's heartbeat sounded like and she will reconsider her decision." ------- "Paras", too, came to CompassCare for the purpose of determining what type of abortion she should seek based on the gestational age of her baby. When asked how she feels about getting an abortion, Paras said, "I don't feel anything." She went on to say her college education is her only priority at the moment. After reviewing the information provided, Paras gestured to the abortion brochure and said, "This is the decision I have made for myself." She was not receptive to further conversation. Please pray Paras' heart is softened towards her child. Pray God uses this moment in her life to reorient her towards Himself and this child's life is spared from abortion.

When Lizzy first came to CompassCare, she was considering getting an abortion due to the severity of her nausea and vomiting associated with the pregnancy. Her boyfriend thought and abortion would be a good solution. Lizzy, however, confessed to her nurse that she'd gotten an abortion before and found the experience traumatizing. When Lizzy saw her eight-week-old baby on the ultrasound screen, she said, "This changes things. I hope my boyfriend feels the same way." She allowed her nurse to pray for her situation. At her return appointment, Lizzy told her nurse she made up her mind to continue the pregnancy and raise her baby. They rejoiced together over her decision and discussed resources available to her. She is still struggling with nausea and vomiting, but wants to endure for the sake of her child. Praise God for sparing this child's life and giving Lizzy the strength to continue her pregnancy in spite of physical suffering. Pray God continues to work in her life, providing all she needs to raise this child.

Lynn

Please pray for Muriel, who is 99 and recently fell in her apartment, breaking her shoulder. After a few days in the hospital, she is now in a Rehab facility, but is reportedly uncooperative with the therapy and upset that she will not be able to return to her apartment because there is no one to care for her there. Although a church-goer, she does not believe in heaven, does not want to talk about spiritual matters, and, consequently, does not have a relationship with God or know His comfort and peace.

UPDATE on Marilou B.: She is home recovering from the heart valve "procedure" (not surgery) she had on Thursday. Although she is sore and swollen where the catheter was inserted in her groin, and weakened from the traumatic experience in the hospital, she was told the procedure went well and she is feeling better, sleeping well and glad to be home. She also had a nurse visit on Saturday, and has a follow-up visit scheduled with a cardiologist. She is grateful for your prayers on her behalf.

From Jose Mir - Update on Rick Juszkiewicz

Rick is still in the hospital struggling with liver and other conditions. Because of fluid retention they had to remove his IV and is lacking nutrition. One bit of good news, his blood panel has stabilized along with his blood pressure. Rick is very appreciative of the love and prayers for him.

"Michele" is pregnant and does not feel ready to be pregnant again after having a baby a few months ago. She recently obtained a restraining order against the father of her children due to abusive behavior. She is considering abortion because another child creates another connection to him. Before the ultrasound exam, Michele said she hopes to get an abortion, "...before it's alive." Her pregnancy was in its earliest stage and very little was visible on the screen. Her nurse gave her information on growth and development and explained the baby is alive now. Michele appreciated hearing the gospel but did not surrender her life to Christ. She made a return appointment and wants to see if her pregnancy is viable next week. Pray God reveals Himself to Michele and shows her a path forward in her life. Pray for all of her children to be able to grow and flourish by the grace of God. -------- "Pearl" is in her late twenties, has been battling severe nausea, is raising a toddler and lives with her mom. The father of this baby is in the military which presents unique challenges. She has told her mother about the pregnancy but feels the father of the baby cannot handle the news. Her mother supports her getting an abortion. After providing her with anti-nausea treatments, Pearl's nurse performed the ultrasound exam. To her surprise, Pearl learned she is carrying twins. Pearl decided to call her mom right away in the exam room and let her know. She was tearful and said she is overwhelmed. When her nurse shared the gospel with her and the opportunity to have peace in Christ, Pearl said, "I want that." She and her nurse prayed together. Pray for Pearl to turn to Christ and surrender her life to Him. Pray she has the strength and resolve to continue her pregnancy even as she battles severe nausea and these twins are spared from abortion. --------"Julia" came to her appointment at CompassCare with the father of her baby. The couple suffered the loss of a prematurely born child a couple of months ago. The child lived less than a week before passing away from multiple major organ failures. Pregnant again, Julia is concerned she could experience the same type of loss. The father of the baby openly blamed Julia for the loss of their child and he remained in the room for the entire appointment, which seemed to hinder Julia from freely speaking her mind. Julia did tell her nurse she feels conflicted; perhaps God is giving her a blessing after her loss. However, she is afraid people (including her mother) will judge her for wanting to carry this pregnancy. Because her pregnancy was too early to confirm, she agreed to come for another appointment to see if her pregnancy is viable. Julia's nurse has asked specifically for prayer that she can fully and clearly share the gospel with Julia at her next appointment. Please pray for this family to heal from loss and embrace the gift of this child.

Steve Hakes

From Mom Amy concerning Mahki: We are going the week of Thanksgiving in hopes that a new Endocrinology team can work with his GI doctor to figure out why he’s not growing. All of his recent bloodwork shows that he should be super fat so now they have to see where and how is body is absorbing the 2000+ calories he takes in every day, yet without making him gain weight or height. He’s still only 13lbs and almost 4 yrs old so he’s extremely failure to thrive. If they can figure this out and get him to grow, then he can continue on with his trach removal surgery, if not, then he will have to keep his trach because he’s not big enough to survive the surgery.

The family appreciates your prayer for this wonderful bundle of joy.
