Please pray for Tom, the elderly gentleman from the E.R. Resource Center who used to pick up the monthly Food Drive donations. He is currently awaiting insurance approval for surgery to remove an abdominal tumor. Pray for the Lord's protection over him and His grace and peace upon him. I believe he is Catholic, so pray that he has a personal and saving relationship with Jesus. Thank you!

UPDATES on Isla McAlpin (from CaringBridge 1/24): Isla is still dealing with debilitating pain. It comes and goes, but she’s miserable when it’s here. Pray it ceases quickly and she is able to rest. ----- (1/25): After meds last night Isla is feeling a bit better. She tested positive for c-diff again, so they are changing her meds to accommodate helping her body clear the infection. On a positive note, her white blood cell count doubled again this morning (still critically low, but higher than yesterday!). We are praying as her counts recover she starts feeling better and is able to clear the colitis and c-diff quickly! Pray with us specifically:

-No further infection

-Counts recover quickly

-Pain to clear as she gets her new meds on board

-That we will get to go home in the next day or two and let her continue recovering there

"Reena" is raising a young child and is pregnant with her second. "I'm not sure if I want another kid," she said. The father of the baby wants the child. Because they disagree about abortion, Reena is taking more time to make her decision. Reena was grateful for the medical information she received about abortion and said she would talk further with the father of the baby. She appeared disinterested in the gospel but said she goes to a local church. Pray Reena's heart is awakened to the reality of God's love for her and her baby as well as His sovereign purposes for their lives. ------- UPDATE: "Annie" returned for a second appointment. She called several abortionists over the past week. She could not make an appointment anywhere without using her dad's health insurance, which presents an issue for her. She does not want her dad, who she describes as "judgmental," or her mom, who she says is a "gossip," to know she is pregnant. Because CompassCare's services are available at no cost to her and no health insurance is required, Annie felt comfortable returning for another appointment. Viability could not be confirmed by her second ultrasound. Her nurse answered her questions and she scheduled a return appointment. Pray Annie's heart is softened as she continues to interact with CompassCare staff and she puts all thoughts of abortion out of her mind.

UPDATE on son Mark: She reports his visit with the concussion specialist on Friday resulted in a medication change (due to unwanted side effects), and a new diagnosis of PTSD. She knows the Lord can heal him, but especially requests prayer that he be drawn back to the Lord in a close and lasting relationship with Him.

UPDATE on Isla McAlpin (from Caring Bridge 1/22): After a whirlwind morning we are being admitted and heading back up to the oncology floor. After a restless night of stomach pain, we headed to the ER this morning. Her first set of blood counts came back critically low, to the point of emergency transfusion. A second panel showed slightly higher numbers, which was a relief to us. She received half a unit of blood and is already beginning to feel a bit better. She will receive platelets upstairs once we are settled in a room. But her stomach pain has continued, so the ordering doctor wanted to do some imaging. After X-rays, a CT scan and an ultrasound I am humbled to say that God is so good, all the time. Her X-ray showed fullness but nothing abnormal, her CT showed an inflamed colon, but nothing else notable, and her ultrasound showed no notable complications. For now, they want to keep her on clear liquids and watch her colon, hoping it will reduce as her counts begin to recover. We are so thankful to be carried through this storm. Even in the wake of the unknown, we are known by the creator of the universe who holds sweet Isla in His hands. Thank you for covering and continuing to cover us in prayer.
