"Allison" has an abortion scheduled this week. She came to CompassCare for abortion information, to confirm her pregnancy and to see how far along she is. Although she has been in relationship with her boyfriend for a decade and they have an elementary age child together, Allison is not sure if he is the father of this baby. She discussed it with him and they both agree abortion is the best choice in this situation. It was not possible to accurately date the pregnancy, possibly due to the early stage of gestation. Allison had hoped to discern the paternity of the baby through the gestational age. She admitted she had an abortion several years ago and thinks about it all the time. "I just wasn't in a good place to have a baby at the time." She told her nurse she may want to carry to term if the baby's father is her boyfriend. "I want another baby," she said. "Why would I have an abortion?" Pray Allison fully resolves to protect the life of her child regardless of who the father is. Pray God redeems this situation and transforms the lives of everyone involved. -------- "Anne" is a successful young woman in her mid-twenties. She has her own business and feels ready to be a mom, but the father of the baby is pressuring her to get an abortion. He was nervous and agitated throughout the appointment. Most fathers stay for the ultrasound exam and wait in the waiting room for the duration of the appointment, but he would not leave the room and kept urging Anne to get going. It was challenging with the father of the baby interjecting and distracting Anne from the conversation at hand. When her nurse shared the gospel, he quieted down. Anne said she had surrendered her life to Christ and would like her nurse to pray for her. Anne plans to return for another appointment. Pray she and the father of the baby choose to honor the gift God has given them in their child. -------- UPDATE/PRAISE REPORT: "Kay" had reached out to an abortionist in Buffalo who turned her away and suggested she try in Rochester. So, Kay and the father of the baby drove to Rochester and arrived at CompassCare thinking she would get an abortion that afternoon. When the available services were explained, she consented to stay for an appointment. The ultrasound exam revealed a twenty-three-week-old baby. Kay tried to look away from the screen, but the father of the baby gazed intently at his child. After he left the room, Kay said she wanted to carry to term but he had been pressuring her to abort. Her parents said they will support anything she decides. Although she was not ready to surrender her life to Christ at the time of the appointment, she said she believes in God and allowed her nurse to pray for her. When her nurse reached out to her this week, Kay said she had decided to carry to term and is seeing her OB soon to begin prenatal care. Praise God for intercepting Kay on the road to the abortionist! Pray He continue to work in her life to transform and empower her to live by His word and ways!

UPDATE on Isla McAlpin (from CaringBridge 4/4): Isla is doing great. She’s feeling good, playing, eating and sleeping well. Her counts are still very low, though. We took her into clinic Friday and today, both days her counts were bordering the bottom. We will head back Wednesday to check again. We’re eager to see her start to recover—the bottom is always hardest for us mentally and emotionally. But—huge praise to God that she has felt great to this point. And we pray (and ask for your prayers) that she continues to feel good as her counts hopefully start the climb back up ASAP. The Lord has been so gracious to us. In everything, we feel blessed and protected as we walk this road. Thank you, friends.
(A few weeks ago our children’s hospital was hacked, causing their systems to all go offline.)

UPDATE: She reports the daughter (Dara) of her Jewish neighbor (Gay) had her cancer surgery and it went well, PTL!, but the liver biopsy Gay's friend Diane had was cancerous. The friend (a cancer survivor, who has suffered from many physical problems, including Covid) has become withdrawn and is not responding to Gay's calls at this time. Please continue to pray for Gay's salvation and peace, and for her friend Diane. Thank you.

"Anna" is in her early twenties and supports herself working full time. She came to CompassCare for abortion information a few days after finding out she is pregnant. She told her nurse she cannot face her family: her father is a minister and she wants to avoid the shame of being pregnant outside of marriage. She said she's been upset and crying over getting an abortion, something her boyfriend does not understand. Anna went on to say anyone she has told about the pregnancy is "rooting for it to die. No one said congratulations." Anna was moved by the sight of her baby and the visible heartbeat. "I wish I were strong enough to say 'I don't care what anyone thinks.' It doesn't deserve to die. It hasn't done anything," she said. Pray Anna turns to Christ at this crucial crossroads and she bears up under the pressure to abort. Pray this child is spared from death and Anna finds a new identity in Christ distinct from the opinions of others. --------- "Samantha" came to CompassCare when her OB said she would have to wait over a month for an appointment. She was relieved to be able to see someone right away. Samantha said she is unsure if she will carry to term or get an abortion. She loves kids and wants to be a mom, but she has two semesters of college left and worries motherhood will hinder her dream of opening a day care center. "I don't think it's a baby until later on," she said, going on to say she doesn't think she would experience guilt from a chemical abortion. The ultrasound exam could not confirm viability, likely due to the early stage of her pregnancy. Samantha was open to hearing the gospel and thanked her nurse for talking to her about God. She is taking a course on religion and currently does not have well-formed beliefs about Christ. Pray God works in Samantha's life and she fully commits to carrying to term.
