CompassCare

Reports: A total of thirty-five women were ministered to at the three CompassCare locations this week. ------- Prayer need: "Karen", a college student, came to CompassCare earlier this month seeking to confirm her pregnancy. She told her nurse her partner "does not want the baby." While her pregnancy was too early to confirm at the first appointment, she scheduled a follow-up appointment. When she returned two weeks later, she was still undecided. Although she knows her friends would support her if she chose to carry to term, she said, "I'm not ready to grow up yet." She said she is very worried about telling her mom. Her nurse was able to confirm her pregnancy via ultrasound. Karen used her phone to record the sound of her baby's heartbeat and said she plans to share it with the father of the baby. She eagerly accepted ultrasound pictures as well. She decided to make another appointment and try to bring the father of the baby with her. When her nurse shared the gospel, Karen said she was made to go to church growing up but does not have a personal relationship with Jesus. Pray she encounters God in new ways as she stands at this crossroads. Pray she decides to carry to term. ------- Praise report: "Jewel" had just finished her first trimester of pregnancy when she and her partner broke up. Alone, she feels overwhelmed knowing she must carry and raise their child on her own. Jewel was already parenting two children from a previous relationship and felt abandoned all over again. Fearful for her future, she began to plan an abortion. It was then she saw an ad for CompassCare online and booked a TeleCare appointment and was quickly connected to a CompassCare nurse through TeleCare and was able to receive a baseline medical consultation, getting many of her questions answered. After the TeleCare appointment, Jewel scheduled an in-person appointment. When she arrived, she confided in her nurse that she saw abortion as her only choice. After seeing her thirteen-week-old baby on the ultrasound screen however, Jewel said, “I feel 50/50 about this.” She went on to explain she is happy to see the baby growing and developing, but she also feels regret and fear due to her circumstances. She cannot imagine raising three kids alone. As Jewel's nurse talked about the option of making an adoption plan, she began to understand she was not backed against the wall. "I don’t want an abortion,” Jewel told her nurse with a new sense of confidence. Her nurse then shared the gospel with Jewel, who responded eagerly. She said she wanted to surrender control of her life to Christ. She and her nurse prayed together in the exam room. Jewel thanked her nurse with joyful tears in her eyes. Several weeks later, her nurse called to see how she is doing. Jewel is still excited to welcome her new baby into her home and is experiencing God's provision in her life. Praise God for giving Jewel the confidence and support she needed to say “no” to abortion!

CompassCare

There were 24 women served at the three CompassCare locations last week, PTL! -------- "Serena" recently came to the United States hoping to create a better life for herself. She is raising a toddler and hopes to attend college. When she found out she is pregnant again, she immediately made an appointment at Planned Parenthood to get an abortion. Financial pressure and concerns about her education and career choked out any hope she had for raising two children. Abortion seemed like the only way forward. Wanting to safeguard her health and learn about her options, though still planning on an abortion, Serena decided to come to CompassCare for diagnostic services. Her nurse provided an ultrasound exam and STD testing. Serena discussed her questions regarding abortion with her caring nurse, as well as adoption and parenting. At the end of the appointment, Serena's nurse provided her with a personalized list of community supports available to help her parent her children. When her nurse gently presented the gospel, Serena said she knows Jesus personally. She was grateful to learn about the local churches that are ready to support her and her family, agreeing to meet with a MotherCare Mentor. She decided she will return to CompassCare for a follow-up appointment before her abortion appointment next week. Pray for Serena as she considers this life and death decision. Pray she draws near to Christ and that He will reveal the true value of the life of her child and His faithfulness to her. ------- Praise: When "Marianna" started experiencing nausea, she suspected she could be pregnant. So she called CompassCare to schedule an appointment. She wanted to confirm her pregnancy and confided that she needed a safe place to talk. Her boyfriend was pressuring her to get an abortion she didn’t want. “I really want to keep it,” she explained. “But he doesn’t want to have another one.” Marianna had not spoken with anyone else in her family about her pregnancy, wanting to get an ultrasound before making a decision. She expressed joy at seeing her preborn baby on the ultrasound screen and talked with her nurse about her hopes for her future with her baby. When her nurse asked her about her spiritual life, Marianna said she has no faith at all. However, when her nurse presented the gospel to her, Marianna was immediately awakened to the truth of Christ’s love for her. Praying with her nurse, Marianna surrendered control of her life to Jesus in prayer. She made a return appointment and left with a study Bible containing highlighted verses for new believers.

Upon her return the following week, Marianna said she’d made up her mind. She is going to have her baby! Hungry to understand the scriptures, she had already met with her Christian grandmother several times over the past week to study the highlighted verses in her gifted Bible. Marianna is also now connected to one of CompassCare's MotherCare mentors who will be walking with her through her pregnancy and helping her connect to a local church. Praise God for the miracle of salvation in Marianna’s life! Pray she and her children are able to grow and flourish under the grace of God in the coming months.
