CompassCare

Reports: A total of thirty-five women were ministered to at the three CompassCare locations this week. ------- Prayer need: "Karen", a college student, came to CompassCare earlier this month seeking to confirm her pregnancy. She told her nurse her partner "does not want the baby." While her pregnancy was too early to confirm at the first appointment, she scheduled a follow-up appointment. When she returned two weeks later, she was still undecided. Although she knows her friends would support her if she chose to carry to term, she said, "I'm not ready to grow up yet." She said she is very worried about telling her mom. Her nurse was able to confirm her pregnancy via ultrasound. Karen used her phone to record the sound of her baby's heartbeat and said she plans to share it with the father of the baby. She eagerly accepted ultrasound pictures as well. She decided to make another appointment and try to bring the father of the baby with her. When her nurse shared the gospel, Karen said she was made to go to church growing up but does not have a personal relationship with Jesus. Pray she encounters God in new ways as she stands at this crossroads. Pray she decides to carry to term. ------- Praise report: "Jewel" had just finished her first trimester of pregnancy when she and her partner broke up. Alone, she feels overwhelmed knowing she must carry and raise their child on her own. Jewel was already parenting two children from a previous relationship and felt abandoned all over again. Fearful for her future, she began to plan an abortion. It was then she saw an ad for CompassCare online and booked a TeleCare appointment and was quickly connected to a CompassCare nurse through TeleCare and was able to receive a baseline medical consultation, getting many of her questions answered. After the TeleCare appointment, Jewel scheduled an in-person appointment. When she arrived, she confided in her nurse that she saw abortion as her only choice. After seeing her thirteen-week-old baby on the ultrasound screen however, Jewel said, “I feel 50/50 about this.” She went on to explain she is happy to see the baby growing and developing, but she also feels regret and fear due to her circumstances. She cannot imagine raising three kids alone. As Jewel's nurse talked about the option of making an adoption plan, she began to understand she was not backed against the wall. "I don’t want an abortion,” Jewel told her nurse with a new sense of confidence. Her nurse then shared the gospel with Jewel, who responded eagerly. She said she wanted to surrender control of her life to Christ. She and her nurse prayed together in the exam room. Jewel thanked her nurse with joyful tears in her eyes. Several weeks later, her nurse called to see how she is doing. Jewel is still excited to welcome her new baby into her home and is experiencing God's provision in her life. Praise God for giving Jewel the confidence and support she needed to say “no” to abortion!
