CompassCare
"Carmella" came to CompassCare seeking to confirm her pregnancy. "I have been blocking this out because I have too many other things going on," she said. Carmella's homelife is in turmoil and she is already raising three young children. She told her nurse, "I don't believe in abortion," sharing that her mother had a bad experience with a past abortion and suffers from regret. Carmella's mother is her primary support in raising her children and would likely welcome another child in the family. However, Carmella worries she is becoming burdensome to her mother and wonders if abortion is the best choice. When her nurse shared the hope of Christ in the gospel, Carmella prayed to receive the gift of salvation. "I want a relationship with Jesus and hope!" she said. Pray Carmella is strengthened by her new relationship with Christ and chooses to carry her pregnancy to term. Pray she is empowered to parent her children with the support of her family and community. ------- "Serena" is new to the United States. She hopes to make a new life for herself and her toddler here by pursuing an education and career. When she found out she is pregnant, she immediately scheduled an abortion. Supporting two children seemed impossible. Her abortion appointment was over a week away when Serena decided to reach out to CompassCare for some pregnancy health screenings. She discussed her Christian faith with her nurse and was encouraged to find out that mature Christian women at local churches were standing at the ready to support her and her family. She made an appointment for the following week just before her abortion appointment to talk with a MotherCare mentor at one of these local churches. Praise God, Serena canceled her abortion after her follow-up appointment! "I want to be a good mom and take care of my baby," she said. "I would feel terrible if I had an abortion. I'll figure this out." Her family has pledged their support and Serena looks forward to continued connection with her MotherCare mentor and a local church. Thank God for His merciful intervention in Serena's life, preserving the life of her baby! Pray Serena and her family grow in grace as they welcome this new baby.

Please pray for Jan, as her damaged front teeth will be extracted on Friday morning at 9 AM in preparation for implants. Pray for her to adjust to the "flipper", a little plastic piece with 2 teeth on it, for temporary use. She can't eat with it in, so a lot of challenges are coming. Also, please pray for me, as I had a minor Afib attack this morning.

CompassCare
34 clients were seen in the CompassCare clinics this past week. Please pray for the Lord's intervention in their lives, and for His continued protection and empowering of the staff. ------- Prayer Need: "Hallie" recently received a positive result on a home pregnancy test and feels having another child will be unmanageable. She's raising one child on her own and has not been in a relationship with this baby's father for very long. "I'm not ready to have a child with him," she told her nurse. He supports her decision to abort. Hallie's ultrasound exam revealed seven-week-old twins. "I'm still planning to abort," she commented. "It doesn't make me sad. I would be sad for my kids if I were to keep them because it would be a struggle to raise one more child, let alone two." When asked about her spiritual beliefs, she said she believes in God but no longer goes to church. Hallie plans to return in a week for a follow-up appointment. Pray Hallie is convicted of the value of her twins' lives. Pray she draws near to God and He empowers her to carry her pregnancy to term with strength and hope. Praise Report: "Heather" received a positive result on a home pregnancy test while planning to resume her college coursework, which had been put on hold for the last two years. Abortion seemed like a quick route to getting back on track with her life. She wanted more information and found CompassCare online. To her surprise, she was able to be seen the same day! After receiving a positive pregnancy test in the office, Heather agreed to an ultrasound, seeing the value of having more information about her health and pregnancy. Due to the early stage of her pregnancy, it was not possible to confirm viability during the ultrasound exam. Heather decided to wait a week to see how the pregnancy progresses. Heather said she worries about parenting a child while in school and is concerned about having enough financial means to support herself and a child. She and her nurse reviewed the resources available to her, which she was very grateful to receive. Heather returned a week later, seeming anxious and tense. “My mom wants me to have an abortion,” she said. “But I think I want to keep the baby.” Viability was still not confirmed with the second ultrasound exam, so Heather decided to defer her decision until a heartbeat could be detected. Three weeks went by before Heather returned to CompassCare. Her nurse was the first person she told: she plans to continue her pregnancy and raise her child! When her nurse asked how she made her decision, Heather said, “Any time I thought about abortion, it was a knee-jerk reaction: I can’t do that!” Heather will begin prenatal care with her OB/GYN shortly. Praise God for sparing Heather and her preborn baby from abortion! Pray Heather remains strong in her determination to carry and parent her child despite pressure or disapproval from others and she avails herself of the support available to her.

She has been receiving nursing aid care and instruction over the last two weeks in her apartment. She said the Lord touched her life greatly this year through the love and friendship of people supporting her over the many months of her illness. ------- Linda Weckelman's chemo scheduled 11/28 was postponed due to the findings in her recent imaging scan. She has an appointment with her oncologist next week to go over the results and treatment plans. ------- Roseann B. continues to feel very tired and fatigues from even light activity, and had an MD appointment scheduled this week. Please continue to pray for the Lord's healing touch and peace for her. ------- PRAISE REPORTS: Andrea Latragna had a surgical "spinal fusion procedure" with a long rod placed through her spine two weeks ago. Update on Mom (Josephine)
She tried to get out of bed on her own again today without calling for help and she fell… This is the fourth time. She said she hurt her self and in pain. They gave her another pain pill and she seems to be sleeping. I believe she has become so used to the pain meds that she has become totally intolerant to any level of pain… Prior to this fall she still refused to put any weight on her right leg and it has healed beautifully according to the doctors and x-rays. Please pray that she did not damage her hip or break anything else. I don’t believe that she has. I believe she’s more frightened and bruised again. Also please pray for us because she’s driving us crazy. Anxiety levels are extremely high right because we can’t seem to get through to her! On another note thank you for your prayers as we were finally approved for continued rehab coverage but if she refuses to do what she’s told there’s not much more we can do. Your prayers are coveted… Thank you!
