SheryI

Prayer request from Sheryl: My mom Louisa’s aggressive oral cancer has returned. She is currently in hospice at home. Appreciate prayer for pain relief and that she could totally forgive those who have wronged her. And that she could go to be with the Lord in His perfect time without anguish over leaving her cat. Thank you saints.

Lynn

UPDATE on Marilou: She ended up being released from the hospital last Friday, but was unable to care for herself over the weekend, and was taken to a different hospital Sunday evening, where she reports she is getting good care. She is still in a lot of pain, but is able to eat a little, and was anticipating a visit from a Social Worker and a Physical Therapist. She thinks she may be going to some assisted living facility for long term care. Please keep praying for the Lord to order her affairs so she gets the care she needs. Thank you for praying!

CompassCare

REPORTS from CompassCare: The Rochester, Buffalo, and Albany clinics ministered to a total of 25 women this week. Pray they will have their babies and submit to Christ. Pray also for the Lord's anointing upon the nurses as they minister to the women and share the Gospel. ------- "Mariah" came to CompassCare feeling desperate and alone. Her husband is out of the country for months at a time, and she recently found out she is pregnant. Due to a history of miscarriage, she is considering getting an abortion rather than facing the uncertainty of a pregnancy. Mariah confided in her nurse, saying she feels hopeless and unsupported. She didn't want an abortion, but her circumstances seemed impossible to navigate alone. By the end of the appointment, she was beginning to see how she could carry her baby to term with the comprehensive community support provided by CompassCare through the Church. Mariah was enthralled by the nurse's description of Christ and presentation of the gospel, eagerly accepting materials to learn more! Pray Mariah encounters the Living God in a transformative way today. Pray she turns to Christ and receives salvation, freedom from fear, and hope for her preborn boy or girl.

UPDATE (10/7): She reports she is still in the hospital E.D. but was told they are getting her a room. She's feeling some better (now that she's not dehydrated) and says the previous diagnosis of a bowel tear was wrong. They are going to schedule a colonoscopy. She very much appreciates the prayers on her behalf.

Joy

Update on Joy's brother: Bruce will be having a CT scan done on October 6th to find out if the cancer has gone into his bones and what areas to target when he starts treatments. Praise God, he qualifies for immunotherapy and will be in a two year study program that greatly reduces the cost of the drugs/treatments. God is merciful! Please keep praying for him and most importantly, for his salvation. Thank you!

Update on my friend Marcia: PTL, she qualifies for an aide! Pray she gets a good person, preferably a Christian, someone who will be very helpful. Also the pain has been very bad in her foot that was operated on. Please pray for comfort as she won't be seeing the doctor for awhile. Pray the pain becomes tolerable and that she doesn't become addicted to pain medicine. Thank you so much.

CompassCare

REPORTS: 32 clients were served this past week at the three CompassCare locations. ------- PRAISE: Several months ago, "Candy" came to CompassCare deeply distressed about her unplanned pregnancy. She was already raising several children, including her nephew, and felt she could not bear the responsibility of raising another child. Although her family wanted her to have the baby, offering their support, she could not imagine having the strength to do so. Her husband said he would not stand in the way of her getting an abortion. Candy was so overwhelmed, her only reaction to seeing her baby on the ultrasound screen was anger and hopelessness. She felt stuck, overwhelmed by her circumstances, and saw abortion as her only choice. Later that day, Candy went for a walk to clear her thoughts. That's when she saw a group of women praying outside a local church. She approached them and poured out her fears and struggles. As one of the women prayed for her, Candy experienced an immediate change of heart. Her mind immediately returned to the warm conversation with her CompassCare nurse, and abortion was now out of the question! Suddenly her heart was filled with love for her preborn baby, and she couldn't wait to meet him or her! Candy's baby was born a few weeks ago, and the family is thrilled to welcome their newest member. Praise God for His miraculous intervention! ------ PRAYER REQUEST: When "Marie" saw a positive result on her home pregnancy test, her first thought was to get an abortion. Realizing she needed more information about her pregnancy before making a decision, she reached out to CompassCare to schedule an ultrasound appointment to determine the age of her baby. Marie is still in her teens and does not feel ready to have a baby. She worries about her parents' possible negative reaction to her pregnancy. Because of her fear of a negative reaction from her family, she plans to get an abortion without disclosing any information to them. The ultrasound showed an active 22-week-old baby. Marie disclosed that she does feel torn about pursuing an abortion. "I am Catholic. I grew up in church and believe in God," she told her nurse. Marie wondered if God put CompassCare in her path as a sign to keep her baby. Deciding to take time to think over all her options, Marie scheduled a return appointment, but she didn't return. She called her nurse and said she found a Planned Parenthood office that performs second trimester abortions and scheduled an appointment. Pray Marie's heart softens towards her preborn child and that she will be moved to protect the life that is growing inside her.
