CompassCare

38 women and their babies were served at CompassCare last week!----------Prayer: "Veronica" serves in the armed forces. A pregnancy is unwelcome news, especially this year when she expects to be deployed. She and the father of the baby, who is currently deployed, agreed abortion is the right decision. Her family also strongly suggests she terminate her pregnancy. "I want to have kids someday. Just not now," Veronica explained to her CompassCare nurse. She consented to an ultrasound exam which revealed an early pregnancy. Viability could not be confirmed yet and Veronica decided to delay making an abortion appointment until another ultrasound could be performed next week to determine viability. Her future reproductive health is important to her and she does not want to undergo an abortion "unnecessarily." Pray Veronica's heart is softened towards her preborn child and she accepts the timing of his or her conception as part of God's sovereign plan for her life.----------Praise: "Brandi" was shocked to see a positive result on her home pregnancy test. Her first instinct was to look for abortion information online. That’s when she found CompassCare’s telehealth platform. While on the site, Brandi clicked the button that connected her with a pro-life nurse via an online chat. The nurse was able to greet Brandi and offer her a telehealth appointment.

Brandi said she didn’t want a full appointment but did have just a few questions about how far along she is and if she can still get an abortion. After chatting directly with an R.N., Brandi realized it was in her best interest to come to a pregnancy center for an ultrasound and STI testing.Brandi and the father of the baby came to the appointment together. It was possible she was in her second trimester but she hadn’t noticed any pregnancy symptoms beyond some weight gain. When the nurse placed the ultrasound probe on her abdomen, an image of the baby’s face immediately illuminated the screen. The baby’s strong heartbeat was heard clearly. Brandi and the father of the baby watched their child with amazement. “I had no idea the baby was that big! I want this baby!” she exclaimed. Brandi felt her parents would support her carrying to term and raising the baby. She gratefully took a referral for prenatal care with an OB. Although she comes from a different faith background, she listened intently to the gospel message. “I’ve never heard that before,” she said. She expressed interest in working with a MotherCare mentor from a local church. Praise God for using CompassCare’s telehealth platform to disrupt Brandi’s abortion plans and spare the life of this unique bearer of God's Image—Brandi's baby. Pray Brandi is made strong for her parenting journey and the seeds of the gospel take root in her heart and grow into soul-saving faith.

CompassCare

From CompassCare: 39 women and their babies were served at the three CompassCare locations last week ---------- Prayer: "Landry" called CompassCare and asked for an abortion appointment. When her nurse explained CompassCare does not provide or refer for abortion but provides vital health services for pregnant women, Landry saw the value in coming to an appointment to learn more about her pregnancy and health. The primary thing Landry wanted to discuss was her previous abortions, one having taken place only a few months ago. She described a traumatic experience with an incomplete chemical abortion which resulted in an emergency room visit and required surgery to complete—threatening her life. Although she feels she and her boyfriend cannot parent a third child right now, she dreads the thought of getting another abortion. "I don't want another abortion," she said, describing her experiences as "horrific and painful." Because of her circumstances, however, she did not believe that she could parent the baby. She continued to vacillate, giving many sensory details of her previous abortions dating back to her teen years. When she saw her baby on the ultrasound screen and learned she is a little over seven weeks into her pregnancy, she continued to muse out loud about abortion. "If I can just take a pill it seems less cruel to the baby. I don't want to use the machine...that would be evil." She began to cry feeling so trapped that she couldn't see how even God would love her. Her nurse took the opportunity to share the love, grace, and redemption available in Jesus Christ. God does love her! "I'm tired of doing things my way," Landry said. She prayed with her nurse to surrender her life to Christ. She was excited about the idea of connecting with a church in her neighborhood which she knows to be a loving place. Pray for Landry. She is still undecided about getting an abortion. Pray Christ fills her heart and mind with His truth and hope and her uncertainty is turned to certainty: the certainty of a mother who is looking forward to having her baby. ---------- Praise: "Lynn" is a college student who came to CompassCare considering abortion last month. She was so worried about the potential shame of a pregnancy out of wedlock in her Christian community that abortion seemed like an appealing alternative. She said the father of the baby supports her choice no matter what. Lynn's ultrasound revealed a ten-week-old baby. She said she needs to talk to her mom before she can make a decision. Weeks went by before her nurse was successful in reconnecting with her. Lynn reported she has her mother's support to continue her pregnancy and raise her child: she's decided not to get an abortion! Praise God for working in this situation to give Lynn the grace and courage she needed to say no to abortion and yes to parenting her child. Pray she remains strong through her pregnancy and beyond!
