CompassCare

"Kali" and her family are immigrants from Nepal. She came to CompassCare last week saying she and her husband want to get an abortion, but they need to keep it a secret as it is forbidden by their religion. She is currently raising three children and is concerned a medication she takes could harm the baby in her womb. "Also," she explained, "we only want a boy." At the time of the appointment she was 14 weeks along but had no reaction to seeing her baby on the ultrasound screen. In Rochester she can get an abortion up to 18 weeks. She said she wanted to get in for an abortion right away. Her nurse shared the gospel with her, but she declined the invitation to accept Christ. Kali returned a few days later with her husband, the two of them intent on getting an abortion. She has an appointment with her OB soon, who provides abortions, but Kali is ashamed to ask for one from her own doctor. She did not make a return appointment but agreed to follow-up calls. Please pray for Kali and her husband to have confidence about welcoming this fourth child into their lives. Please pray for her nurse as she follows up with her in the coming days. -------- "Iyla" returned to CompassCare after her pregancy was unconfirmed at her first appointment. She is raising a child with very little support from friends and family. Her biggest concern is childcare and she remains undecided about continuing her pregnancy. When she saw the heartbeat of her child, she had a positive reaction and said, "I may need to step it up and get a better job." She and her nurse talked about childcare resources available to her. Iyla also said she has contacted her OB for a prenatal appointment. Her nurse revisited their conversation from last week regarding the gospel. Iyla said she had given it some thought but wasn't ready to surrender to Christ. She plans to return next week. Please pray for Iyla to resolve to continue her pregnancy and for the seeds of gospel truth to take root in her heart. -------- "Rachel" was unable to give her private information because her husband tracks all of her activity including her phone. He has been emotionally and verbally abusive, but recently has become physically abusive. She has called the police for help several times and has found some officers to be demeaning and dismissive. She feels hopelessly trapped. A friend found out about CompassCare and made the appointment for her. Rachel feels it would be best to place her child in an adoptive family, but her husband will not allow that. He has not been physically abusive since he learned she is pregnant, but Rachel cannot imagine bringing a child into their home environment. Her nurse provided her with counsel and information about how to find safety but she sobbed saying she can't leave. She is terrified he would find her. Rachel had to end her appointment early to keep her husband from becoming suspicious. Please pray for Rachel's safety as well as for strength and clarity for her situation. Pray she would find a way to return to CompassCare for more support and the opportunity to hear the Good News. -------- "Rae"is a young mother raising a toddler who came to CompassCare considering abortion. The father of her children died by suicide last week. "I don't know what to do," she said. She's currently living with her dad, who wants her to get an abortion. Her mother, however, would support her continuing the pregnancy. When Rae saw her 15-week-old baby on the ultrasound screen, tears came to her eyes. When her nurse shared the gospel with her, she said she has been to church but currently feels angry with God over the suicide of her partner. She agreed to return for a follow-up appointment. Please pray for Rae's hope to be restored. Pray she is reconciled to God and chooses to embrace the life of her child during this season of grief and pain. --------- UPDATES: "Cindy" came for a return appointment and her pregnancy was still unable to be confirmed. She says she is determined to get an abortion if her pregnancy does not end naturally through miscarriage. Please pray for Cindy's heart to be softened and open to the possibility of welcoming a child into her life. -------- "Vicky" came to CompassCare at the end of October saying she needed to get an abortion because she was overwhelmed raising five children. However, she struggled with the idea of getting what would be her third abortion. After over a month of follow-up, Vicky told her nurse she had decided to keep her baby. She said she is doing well and is focusing on staying healthy. She is a healthcare worker regularly interacting with COVID patients. Praise God for Vicky's change of heart! Thank God for all He plans to do through the life of this child. Please continue to pray for Vicky and her baby to remain healthy.
