"Dena" is a college student with an African background. She feels she needs to get an abortion because of cultural shame around unmarried pregnancy. Her pregnancy was too early to confirm. When her nurse talked with her about the tensions she is feeling, she said she thinks abortion is wrong but she feels she has no options. She listened to the gospel and allowed her nurse to pray with her. She made a return appointment for next week. Please pray for Dena to lay hold of Christ during this challenging time. Pray for her nurse to be used to have a powerful impact on her life at her next appointment. -------- "Marla" is a high school student who recently found out she is pregnant. "I know I could take care of a baby, I'm just not ready." She said she wants to go to college, be married, and have a house before having children. The father of the baby feels the same way. She is unsure if her family would be supportive of her parenting a child. Marla went on to say, "I know no child is a mistake, but the world is a scary place." After her ultrasound revealed a ten-week-old baby, she and the father of the baby were visibly upset. "It seems more real now," she commented. The father of the baby said he would support her regardless of her decision. Please pray for Marla and the father of the baby to take time to search their hearts this week and for them to consider adoption or parenting.

Please pray for Kathy Burtsell, who has been battling a persistent cough for over a month now, and for Jan Slocum, who continues to suffer from a very painful skin condition, and at times the pain is unbearable. They appreciate your prayers!------- UPDATES: Antoinette P. is anticipating a surgical procedure to evaluate her abnormal swallowing condition. Antoinette said she loves and so appreciates all the prayers coming her way, and is hopeful that this procedure may help her doctors determine why it’s so difficult and painful to swallow. ------- Mike Grabowski had returned home from rehab in time for his birthday, but then was rushed to Strong hospital and admitted for fainting and total body weakness. Mike's faith remains strong, as he knows he is secure with the Lord and thankfully is not letting this set back influence his mind or faith.

My 33 year old niece Courtney has been through 7 mos of chemo for breast cancer. Your prayers are really helping; miraculous healings of tumors in her arm pits and liver have pretty much disappeared. But this Friday she will have a bone scan/cat scan and Monday an MRI. These scans are critical and will determine future plans. We are asking the Lord for complete healing, no tumors and hopefully no more chemo! This last chemo treatnent really hit her hard physically. Bone pain is severe and is hard to walk. And last but not least, I believe Courtney is very close to accepting the Lord's salvation. She has heard the gospel, she is reading the bible and believes your prayers are helping her. I have faith that the Lord has begun a good work in my niece and He will finish it. Amen. Hallelujah!

UPDATE: Please continue to pray for "Minnie". She returned for a second appointment. Her pregnancy was confirmed and she was extremely emotional when hearing her child's heartbeat. She is set to graduate in two months and is worried her pregnancy will be viewed as a violation of student conduct standards at her college. When her nurse shared the gospel with her, she decided to surrender life to Christ. Minnie plans to return for a third appointment after her spring break vacation. Please pray for her relationship with Christ to bloom in this time and for her to fully resolve to keep her child.

"Maria" came to CompassCare feeling very sick in the early stage of her pregnancy. She plans to get an abortion. She told her nurse she has gotten two previous abortions. "I thought when I was getting my second abortion I would definitely keep the next one, but I don't think now is a good time," she explained. Her nurse provided her with anti-nausea medication which brought quick relief and called in a prescription for her. Maria was relieved and grateful. When she saw her baby on the ultrasound screen and heard his heartbeat, she said she was shocked but set on her decision to abort. She was not interested in surrendering her life to Christ when she heard the gospel but did allow her nurse to pray for her. At the end of the appointment, Maria declined making a return appointment and said, "I'll just go on Google and find a place to get an abortion." She agreed to follow-up contact by phone. Please pray for Maria's heart to be softened toward her child and trust in God's timing and purposes for this baby's life and her own. Pray also for her nurse as she reaches out in the coming days. ------- "Ginny" came to CompassCare after taking a home pregnancy test. Her main concern was to date her pregnancy so she could ascertain who the father of the baby might be. Based on paternity, she may choose to get an abortion. "I've been partying a lot," she told her nurse, and went on to say she's worried she may have harmed the baby. Ginny's ultrasound did not provide her with the clarity she wanted to discern paternity. Her nurse asked her if she believes things happen for a reason. When Ginny agreed, her nurse suggested that having a child may help her reorient her life. She went on to share how much God loves her regardless of her choices and asked Ginny if she'd like to surrender her life to Christ. "Yes, I would," Ginny said, "But I don't know how." Her nurse gladly led her in praying to receive Christ. Please pray for Ginny to find strength in the Lord and hope for her future. Pray she keeps her return appointment and continues to grow spiritually. -------- "Amanda" found out she is pregnant on the same day she broke up with the father of the baby. She has friends who are single moms and she doesn't want that for herself. She's also watched her brother's struggles in parenting and feels unsure if she wants to go down the same road. "I know I could do it," she said, but she hasn't ruled out abortion. Her pregnancy was too early to confirm and her nurse encouraged her to take time this week to think about her decision. She was grateful for the information and said she talks to God every day and would pray about her pregnancy. Please pray Amanda would have peace about moving forward with her pregnancy and returns next week. -------- "Tess" is experiencing severe nausea and vomiting in her first trimester. She has an infant at home and is continuing her education. "I have too much going on right now to have another baby," she told her nurse. She went on to say everyone in her support system agrees she should get an abortion. Her ultrasound revealed a seven-week-old baby with a strong heartbeat. Tess did not have a response to seeing her baby and said multiple times she plans to get an abortion. She declined a return appointment. Please pray for Tess to feel stronger physically and for the Lord to work in her heart. Pray for her determination to get an abortion to be turned into determination to continue her pregnancy no matter what. -------- UPDATE/PRAISE: Thank you for praying for "Carmen". When she first came to CompassCare, she felt it would be impossible to raise a fifth child and thought abortion was her only option. She came for a return appointment and told her nurse she has decided to continue her pregnancy. Her nurse performed another ultrasound as part of the appointment. Carmen was excited to see her baby. When asked what changed her mind, she said she talked with her mom and sister who were supportive of her keeping and raising the baby. "That made all the difference," she said. "I'm trusting God in it all."
