"Jane" is a mother of two young children and recently got an abortion. She told her nurse she "doesn't want any more children" and her boyfriend supports her decision to get an abortion. Jane's ultrasound confirmed a seven-week-old baby. She appeared unaffected by her baby's image on the screen and declined to take an ultrasound picture. When asked how she was feeling, Jane simply said "my heart is fine with the idea of abortion." When her nurse shared the hope of the gospel, Jane responded positively and said she wanted to give control of her life to God. Please pray the Holy Spirit continues to move powerfully in Jane's heart and mind. Pray she would truly relinquish control of her life, trust in God fully, and choose to continue her pregnancy. ------- "Lucy" is a career woman who has already raised her family. Both she and her boyfriend are not willing to become parents at this stage in life. During her appointment, Lucy was shocked to see a 27-week-old baby. She immediately realized that abortion is not the route she can now pursue. However, she is willing to pursue an adoption plan. Lucy told her nurse she believes in God and prayed to Him about her pregnancy. She remarked, "God told me adoption is best." To further help her through this, Lucy agreed to connect with a MotherCare mentor for support. Pray God would provide a deep and abiding peace during this difficult time. Pray Lucy would continue to seek God's direction and will follow up with her adoption counselor. ------ UPDATES: "Bri" returned for her follow-up but is still undecided about her pregnancy. While she has shared the news with a few friends, Bri still has not told her parents. She is fearful of their reaction. She does not want to jeopardize the support she and her other child currently receive from them. Bri was again affected deeply by the sound of her baby's heartbeat. The father of the baby was brought into the room for the ultrasound, but appeared disconnected from everything. Bri continues to struggle with pregnancy-related illness and her nurse took great care to attend to this need. A follow-up appointment was offered but declined. Pray Bri will continue to fight through nausea, fear and doubt with her pregnancy. Pray the Lord will intervene and protect her preborn baby. Pray Bri will receive the support she needs from her parents and her boyfriend. ------- "Deanne" has been to CompassCare for two appointments. Both times, she expressed doubt about continuing her pregnancy. At first she was "not ok with abortion," but feels completely overwhelmed in life. Deanne already has an infant at home, and even though she receives support from her parents, they feel she cannot handle another baby. Deanne feels abortion is her best option. The ultrasound revealed a nine-week-old baby with a strong heartbeat. Deanne's boyfriend was present in the room with her. He expressed concern that she would not be able to care for another infant at this time. However, he would favor adoption over abortion. Deanne declined to return for another appointment but agreed to follow-up by phone. Please pray Deanne and her boyfriend will make a decision to spare the life of their child. Pray that the love of Christ will be made known to them in the days ahead.

UPDATE: Kevin was moved from the ICU to a general medical floor last Thursday and his physical and mental status has slowly, but steadily, improved, PTL! His underlying condition (end stage liver disease) makes his overall health care very complex and fragile, and much of the time he seems to have limited comprehension of his actual situation. He's off antibiotics (again) and they're currently focusing on nutrition and physical therapy to strengthen him and get him out of the bed. He is getting good care, and we are thankful for every goal accomplished and "good" day that we have. Praise God because He is ALWAYS faithful and worthy, and thank you SO MUCH for your prayers and support!

"Gina" finds herself pregnant while struggling with a chronic pain condition. In order to function, she manages pain with medication. Initially, she had every intent to continue her pregnancy. However, after seeing her doctor and making necessary changes in her healthcare (including reducing pain medication), she questions her ability to physically carry her baby to term. The ultrasound revealed a healthy baby with a strong heartbeat. During her appointment, Gina was able to talk through her medical concerns and her fears. She tearfully admitted, "I never thought I would get an abortion" and feels "no one understands what I am going through." Gina's nurse took the time to address her fears and reassure her that she is not alone - the Lord is with her. A referral was given to a trusted, high-risk OB/GYN and Gina was encouraged to seek a second opinion. Pray God will bring Gina relief from pain as she considers her pregnancy. Pray she will seek a second opinion and finds the answers needed to move forward with confidence. Pray Gina will feel God's presence and look to Him for wisdom and understanding. ------ "Rose" is a single mother raising a young child alone. She was surprised by her pregnancy and came to CompassCare seeking abortion information. She shared the news with her grandmother, but not her boyfriend because "he'd want me to have the baby." The thought of adding another child to her life is very overwhelming to Rose. Rose responded emotionally to her baby on the ultrasound monitor. With tears in her eyes she whispered, "It's a life." She admitted she deeply regretted a prior abortion and cried repeatedly during the appointment as her nurse lovingly listened and guided the discussion. When the hope of the gospel was presented, Rose responded by surrendering her life to Christ. Pray Rose's young faith will be strengthened and grow. Pray she protects the life growing inside her. ------- UPDATE: "Linda" doesn't feel that now is the time for another child, but her boyfriend and family are excited for her pregnancy. Linda did not show up for her return appointment, but did answer the phone when her nurse called to check on her. She reported she has an abortion appointment scheduled for later this week and when pressed by her nurse, admitted, "I know it will be painful, but I don't want a child now." Please pray Linda's heart will soften toward her baby. Pray her family will be able to speak into the situation and influence her to continue her pregnancy. Pray God's hand of protection will be on this little child.

UPDATE: My Uncle Chuck died around 8:30 this morning (Friday), and we did not have a chance to see or talk to him. However, my mom talked with his wife, and according to my aunt, she and my uncle were watching church on TV every Sunday morning. I was told that they were watching Dr. David Jeremiah and another pastor. Also, my aunt said that my uncle made a profession of faith before he died! Thank You, Lord Jesus! Please pray for the rest of the family that we may share the gospel with them! Thank you, Saints!

UPDATE: Kevin has again rebounded, PTL!, and is feeling and doing better physically now that he's back on antibiotics. They plan to move him out of the ICU sometime today, but he has been very confused and they're not quite sure why since blood levels for toxins were back to normal again. Please continue to pray for God's protection over him, for wisdom for his doctors and nurses, and that he would experience the Lord's peace. Thank you.
