Prayer for some one very close to me, trying to stay sober.... life long struggle. They would learn to rely on the Holy Spirit for strength... when we are weak... then God's strength will bring the victory over "self"!

CompassCare

"Janice" is a young high school student who came to CompassCare afraid and confused. An older sibling brought her to the appointment because she has not yet told her parents and is afraid to do so. Janice's pregnancy is too early to to confirm. She was encouraged by her nurse not to rush into a decision, but to take time to think through things and talk with her parents. Janice appreciated being prayed for by her nurse. Please pray the Lord will give Janice the courage to speak with her mom and dad. Pray they will offer support and not condemnation, freeing her to continue her pregnancy with confidence. ------- "Brandie" is also a high school student. She is pregnant by her longtime boyfriend. Brandie shared her pregnancy with her father and stepmother, who both encouraged her to abort. She has not yet told her mother and said "Mom might not support abortion." Brandie was tearful throughout her appointment. Upon seeing her six-week-old baby on the ultrasound screen, Brandie said it made her feel "sad" but did not want to talk about why. "I am sure I want to abort," she declared. When her nurse shared the gospel with her, Brandie became emotional and admitted that she came to Christ two years ago at a summer camp. Her nurse prayed the Lord would bring her peace and wisdom in her decision. Brandie agreed to a follow-up appointment with CompassCare before the appointment she has scheduled at Planned Parenthood. Please pray Brandie returns for her follow-up appointment. Pray she will not follow the advice of her father and stepmother, but will take the time to seek wisdom from the Lord in her decision. ------- "Sheryl" is a mom of three who finds herself pregnant after an encounter with an old boyfriend. Sheryl is just starting a new job and feels overwhelmed and confused with this new pregnancy. Sheryl did not respond to the image of her child other than to say that she is "not happy." She has had two prior abortions and stated, "I have no issues [with them]." Sheryl declined STD testing and a follow-up appointment, but was open to hearing about the gospel. She even told her nurse "I did not realize it was a choice" and "I have to think about it." Sheryl gladly received prayer from her nurse at the end of the appointment. Please pray Sheryl takes the time to think about the message she heard. Pray the sweet words of the gospel will penetrate her heart. Pray she surrenders her life to Christ and spares the life of her preborn child.

UPDATE on Kevin: My son was transferred to Strong Hospital Thursday night, where he was evaluated for having a liver transplant. That has been denied at this time. Tomorrow they will switch his care over to a medical focus (as opposed to surgical) and discuss goals in palliative care. He has determined to praise and serve the Lord however he can wherever he may be. And we thank you for your continued prayers and support as we learn new ways to trust in our gracious God.

Hi pastor and all my wonderful brothers and sisters at Koinonia! Please say a prayer for me: homeless at 74, life is hard but many have it much worse! Please pray that GOD helps me find a pair of sneakers that fit. Mine are a size too big and I am starting to get blisters. I walk a lot with a backpack, so it really hurts! GOD richly bless you. Brother Danny

UPDATE: Kevin, although still very ill, has stabilized and been moved out of ICU. He has a different hospital doctor now who had the good sense to order a blood transfusion to treat the severe anemia Kevin's had for months. PTL! He's very weak, needing total care, but is more alert and responsive today than he had been. Thank you so much for your prayers!
