"Pearl" is a young woman raising a toddler alone, having been abandoned by the father before birth. Pearl has struggled with homelessness and unemployment over the past year. Her current boyfriend would like her to continue her pregnancy, but Pearl is uncertain of his true commitment. She has dreams of having a home and stability for her family and is working hard to attain them, but the chaos surrounding her current situation frightens her. Pearl was open with her nurse about previous abortion experiences and how they affected her. She admitted feeling truly alone, being estranged from her family, and not having any friends. When her nurse shared about Christ, Pearl said she grew up in church but wasn't ready to recommit her life to Jesus. Pearl was interested in further support and agreed to be contacted by a MotherCare mentor. Please pray Pearl will be able to connect quickly with a mentor. Pray God will work powerfully through this relationship giving Pearl the strength and support she needs to continue her pregnancy. Pray the love of Christ will manifest itself powerfully in Pearl's life and she will surrender to Jesus.

"Jolie" came to CompassCare last week uncertain about whether to continue her pregnancy. She is single and works with the father of the baby. They are not in a relationship and Jolie feels it would be awkward to have her baby and then still work with him. Her family is supportive of her getting an abortion. During the ultrasound, Jolie saw her 9-week-old baby and heard his heartbeat. She tearfully admitted to her nurse that she believes abortion is wrong, but feels pressured to go forward with it. Jolie was open to hearing the gospel and recommitted her life to Christ. While she says her plan is still to get an abortion, she agreed to a follow-up call from her nurse. Please pray God would intervene on behalf of Jolie's baby. Pray that she will have the courage to say no to the pressure that surrounds her. Pray the Holy Spirit will move in Jolie's heart and draw her closer to Christ. ------- "MacKenzie" is 14-weeks pregnant. She has a toddler at home and is working on her degree. The thought of having another baby overwhelms MacKenzie and she feels another child will get in the way of her goals. Her family and her boyfriend will support whatever decision she makes. MacKenzie was engaged with her baby during the ultrasound and was surprised to learn how far along she is. She shared her hesitation to have a surgical abortion, but still couldn't imagine continuing her pregnancy. MacKenzie listened with joy as her nurse shared the love of Christ and decided to surrender her life to Him. By the end of the appointment, MacKenzie told her nurse she wasn't sure what she was going to do. She will return next week for a follow-up appointment. Pray God would use this time in MacKenzie's life to reveal Himself more to her. Pray she will turn to Him for wisdom in her decision. Pray her family and boyfriend will see her uncertainty and encourage her to continue her pregnancy. Pray God's protection over her preborn baby.

Please pray for me! I feel like my world is falling apart. I’m so tired emotionally. I have been helping my daughter by taking care of granddaughter Riley. She’s battling a disease that her sister passed away from. I go over there everyday to do her feeds and her meds because my daughter is almost due to have her baby. I had a nanny job and I saved what extra I had and now I don’t have anything. I was doing so good but my job ended because she put the baby in daycare. Now I feel like my world is falling apart. My finances are horrible. Everything is crashing down on me. I can't not help my daughter because she is in desperate need of my help. I have prayed and given this to God. I believe in the power of prayer and I know he will get me through this. But at times I lose my faith.

"Abby" is a working mom of three doing her best to raise her family. She lives with her fiancé and he is very supportive, but the thought of having another baby overwhelms her because of the cost of childcare and a small living space. Abby confided to her nurse that she had an abortion several years ago and feels more sensitive about it now, and she has a deep sense of responsibility to care for her children. Her pregnancy was too early to confirm and she agreed to take time to think and return for a follow-up. Please pray that God would use her experience to soften her heart to spare the life of her child. Pray that her belief in God would grow into a rich relationship with Him. ------- "Fern" is a busy mother of three children. She isn't ready to have more kids but her boyfriend wants her to continue the pregnancy. Fern admitted to prior abortions and denies having any adverse effects from them. She appeared calm and resolute throughout the appointment about her abortion plan. Fern told her nurse she is familiar with the Gospel, attends church regularly, and has committed her life to Christ on multiple occasions. She allowed her nurse to pray for her. Fern agreed to return next week for test results and another ultrasound. Please pray God frustrates Fern's plans to abort her baby. Pray the Holy Spirit will move powerfully in her heart and she will see the value of her preborn baby's life. Pray she will learn what it means to truly follow Christ. ------- "Bonnie" came to CompassCare wanting an abortion. Bonnie has two teenagers at home and feels she is too old to start over. She's also suffering from severe nausea due to the pregnancy. The father of the baby and the rest of her family are excited about the baby and would like her to carry to term. During the ultrasound Bonnie saw her 7-week-old baby and remarked, "It's amazing how something so small can make me feel so bad." Bonnie confessed she is a Christian and feels close to God. Her nurse encouraged her to reach out and pray to Him for guidance and strength. Please pray that Bonnie will take the time to consider her decision. Pray God will give her the courage to continue her pregnancy and have her baby. UPDATES: "Melissa" is a single mom who is overwhelmed with raising two small children on her own. Melissa has been suffering for several months with nausea and vomiting, often needing emergency medical care. Her circumstances and her illness have pushed her to the point of wanting an abortion. In her uncertainty, Melissa felt comfortable returning to CompassCare to see her baby once more. The ultrasound revealed an active 11-week-old baby to which she coldly remarked, "I'm running out of time." In an effort to relieve her discomfort, Melissa's nurse went over anti-nausea measures and encouraged her to take time to try the medications prescribed by her physician. Pray Melissa will find relief from her extreme illness. Pray the Lord will give her strength and peace to face the challenges in her life. Pray she would have the courage to carry her baby to term. ------- "Corrine" originally came to CompassCare planning to carry to term. However, at her return appointment she told her nurse she is now unsure of what to do. The pressures of being a single mother and her relationship with her boyfriend make her life complicated, causing her to think abortion might be her best option. Corrine has been struggling with severe nausea and vomiting. Her nurse provided an anti-nausea kit and explained ways to ease her discomfort. Corrine was engaged with her baby on the ultrasound screen and said seeing the baby and hearing his heartbeat "made it seem real." Corrine admitted she struggles with the idea of abortion because she knows how God feels about it. She is also concerned about the impact it might have on her young child. She will not be returning for another appointment but agreed to have her nurse follow-up by phone. Pray for healing from the severe nausea and vomiting she is experiencing. Pray for God to end the conflict that is happening in Corrine's heart and mind. Pray for protection of the child growing in her womb.
